Developing the Panic Disorder Screening Tool

The tool was prepared as part of a master’s thesis entitled “The Validity of the Panic Disorder Diagnostic Tool in Mental Health Centers in the State of Kuwait” at the College of Graduate Studies – Kuwait University.

The aim is to provide a screening tool for the initial diagnosis of panic disorder.

The tool is to screen people with panic disorder specifically because:
The panic attack is the most prominent feature of panic disorder and it is also an attack that occurs within other psychological disorders such as Generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and organic diseases such as thyroid disorders and mitral valve prolapse (as a heart disease), so there is a need to know whether the panic attack that occurs to a person is because he suffers from panic disorder or any other psychological disorder or organic disease.

Scientifically,
Screening is a quick and approximate process, as it is the initial diagnosis followed by other clinical procedures to confirm or reject it.

This is what those in charge of preparing the Panic Disorder Screening Tool confirm.
